Rev Hurricane Watch puts every active hurricane, typhoon and tropical cyclone on Earth on a single live map. Tap any storm for its current position, sustained wind, central pressure, movement, the official forecast track, wind radii and the advisory text.
Atlantic, East Pacific and Central Pacific storms come straight from the NOAA National Hurricane Center: the active-storm feed for current conditions and the official Forecast/Advisory text for the forecast track and wind radii. Storms in every other basin come from GDACS, which republishes Joint Typhoon Warning Center and regional center advisories.
The app checks the official feeds every five minutes. The agencies themselves issue full advisories every six hours, with intermediate advisories every three hours when land is threatened, so the position shown is the latest official fix, not a second-by-second GPS reading.
Tap My location, or press and hold any point on the map. For each storm the app shows its distance, the closest forecast approach and whether the official forecast wind radii or wind swath cover that point. Turn on Alerts to be notified about new storms, strengthening and threats to your location while the app is open.
Categories follow the Saffir-Simpson scale using one-minute sustained wind: Category 1 is 74–95 mph, Category 2 is 96–110 mph, Category 3 is 111–129 mph, Category 4 is 130–156 mph and Category 5 is 157 mph or higher.
Yes. Tap Get the app. On Android choose Install. On iPhone tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
This tracker is an information tool. Forecasts carry error that grows with time, and dangerous conditions extend well beyond the forecast track. For decisions that affect life and property, follow your national weather service and local emergency officials.
